「チュルっ！！」
踏み込み一番、ドザがチュルに斬りつけたクゥダフに向かって槍を振るった。
まさに怒りの一撃！
脇腹に槍を叩きつけられたクゥダフはそのまま３ｍほど横に吹き飛び、岩に体をぶつけて絶命した。
「チュルたんは！？」
ドザが振り返ると、Ｊがチュルのそばで屈みこんでいた。
「まずい・・・・・・すぐに蘇生しないと手遅れになるぞ！」
チュルの喉に手を当てながら、Ｊは深刻そうな顔をしている。
「俺がレイズをかけよう！」
Ｊは戦士であるが、サポートジョブが白魔道士なので、白魔法の詠唱も可能だった。
「分かりました。Ｊはチュルたんをお願いします」
「ドザは？」
Ｊは顔を上げた。すでにドザはＪに背を向けて走り出している。
「あいつらを食い止めます！！」
先ほど、後方から迫っていたクゥダフ達は、結構距離を詰めて接近してきていた。チュルを蘇生するとなると、まず、追いつかれてしまうだろう。
「俺も行きます！」
その後をＬが追う。
チュルと二人残されたＪは早速蘇生に取り掛かった。
「腐りかけたチュルの肉体に哀れみを・・・・・・」
蘇生魔法、レイズの詠唱にはかなりの時間がかかる。Ｊは無理やり迫り来るクゥダフのことを頭から締め出すと、詠唱に集中した。
ドザの攻撃はすさまじかった。
Ｌはドザを援護しようと、ピッコロを取り出し、クゥダフを眠らせていた。が、クゥダフは眠らせたそばから、ドザに撃破されていた。
「うおぉぉぉぉぉりゃぁぁぁぁ！！」
ドザの槍、一振りで、３～４匹のクゥダフが吹き飛ぶ。たちまち辺りは血の海になった。
Ｌは後ろから、ただその光景を見ていた。
２０匹近くいたクゥダフが全滅するのに、わずか３分しかかかっていない。
ドザは肩で息をしながら、Ｌのいるほうに戻ってきた。
「おつかれさま」
Ｌはドザを回復する。
ドザはナイトなので、回復ぐらい自分で出来るのだが、少しでも役に立ちたかったＬは、自ら進んで詠唱を始めた。
「とにかく、チュルたんのところへ戻ろう」
「はい」
二人は急ぎその場を後にした。
ドザとＬが戻るころには、チュルの蘇生は終わっていた。
止血も終り、小さくうずくまりながら、蘇生の反動である、衰弱状態からの回復を待っている。
「チュルたん・・・・・・大丈夫？」
ドザが心配そうにチュルに駆け寄る。
ＬはＪのそばでバラードを歌っていた。見方のＭＰを少しずつ回復する効果を持つ歌だ。今度は不本意ながらもハープを使っている。
「はい・・・・・・Ｊさんのおかげで・・・・・・まだ体がだるいですけど、もう大丈夫です！」
そう言って立ち上がろうとするチュル。それをドザが慌てて押さえつけた。
「駄目だよ、チュルたん。今は休んでないと」
「でも・・・・・・」
「そうだ。今そんな体で出発しても満足に歩けないからな。とにかく、衰弱が直るまでは我慢してくれ」
Ｊがそう言うと、チュルはしぶしぶながらも、腰を落ち着けた。
「とにかく、大事に至らなくてよかったよ」
「そうですね」
ＬがＪに同意した。
その後、チュルの衰弱回復待ちに、２時間ほど時間を置いた後、４人は再び歩き出した。
―コンシュタット高地―
「ついにここまで来たなぁー！」
沼地を抜けたらそこは視界が開けた高原。緑の草が足元でたなびいている。
Ｊも難関を抜けて一息、といった感じだ。
「でも・・・・・・さっきは余計に時間がかかりましたから・・・・・・急がないと」
チュルだけは暗い顔。
「あたしがもっと強ければ・・・・・・！」
「なあ、チュルたん。チュルたんはどうしてそんなに急いでいるのですか？多少到着が遅れたところで、そんなにお姉さんを探すのが難しくなるとは思えないけど・・・・・・？」
ドザが身をかがめて、チュルの視線に近づけながら尋ねた。
「それは・・・・・・」
チュルが口ごもる。
「はっきりとは言えないんですけど・・・・・・感じるんです。お姉ちゃんが危ないって！ジュノからバストゥークに近づくにつれて、お姉ちゃんがバストゥークにいるっていう確信を持てました。でも、それと同じようにお姉ちゃんに危険が迫っているという予感も募るんです・・・・・・」
「感じる、ねぇ？」
Ｊは半信半疑のような顔をして呟いた。
「とにかく、早くバスへ行けばいいことだ。そうすれば、いろいろと分かることもあるだろ」
Ｊがそう言った時だった。
「そうはいかンな！」
いつの間にか、１０ｍほど正面に人影があった。
「・・・・・・！？」
よく見ると、人影のように見えたそれは、全身に黒い鎧をまとった人間だと分かった。声からして、それは男性だろう。露出している肌はなく、顔まですっぽりと黒で統一されている。
「あなたは・・・・・・？」
Ｌはあまりの不気味さに身震いした。Ｊとドザはすでに警戒態勢をとっている。
「俺か、俺はそうだなぁ・・・・・・」
黒い鎧の男はマスクの下で軽く笑ったようだった。
「俺は゛黒の騎士゛！！お前達はここから先へ進ませないゼ！！」
そう言って男は背中から大剣を抜いた。
